Ayahuasca (aka "the vine of the soul") is a medicinal plant mixture from the Amazon rain forest. This medicine is used by indigenous cultures for healing and divination. The experience induced by ayahuasca shares many similarities with near-death experiences (NDEs). Mitch Liester's presentation will examine the similarities and differences between ayahuasca-induced experiences and NDEs. Ayahuasca's potential as a research tool to help us better understand NDE phenomena will be explored as well.
