Laura Pace & Jan Holden - A New Assessment Instrument for the Field of Near-Death Studies: The Knowledge and Attitudes about Near-Death Experiences Scale

Until now, NDE researchers who wanted to assess people's knowledge and attitudes about NDEs had only a scale that was developed 30 years ago for nurses. Now researchers have a current and methodologically sound instrument, the recently-completed Knowledge and Attitudes about Near-Death Experiences Scale (KANDES). Developed through best practices in instrument design, the process included use of a focus group of experts and confirmation of methodological quality through acceptable levels of reliability and factor analysis. Attendees will learn about the instrument's development and will learn how they can access the instrument for scholarly research with any population.
