I will go into detail about a shared death experience with my wife of 25 years. I will describe an early childhood NDE, and several NDE-like experiences including one in which I encountered the boundary between life and physical death. I will discuss the challenges during and after transcendent experiences of living as a human and describe how transcendent experiences catalyze psychological and spiritual growth – this is the rite of passage component. I will include an exercise informed by these experiences that will clarify human emotional and mental parts of self and differentiate those parts from the type of awareness that connects the personality to the deeper self (this can be seen in the YouTube video of my South Bay IANDS presentation 1/27/15).
