The transformative nature of NDEs. Do you have to have an NDE to be changed by one?: Previous studies indicate NDEs have a transformative quality to them – inducing significant life and spiritual changes in many who have them. A smaller number of studies also indicate learning about NDEs can facilitate beneficial changes in those who have not had an NDE. This presentation will present findings of a New Zealand study, which assessed knowledge about and attitudes towards NDEs; and investigated the impact of NDE ‘education’ on knowledge and attitudes. Findings will be discussed in relation to how NDE ‘education’ can serve as a rite of passage to beneficial and profound spiritual transformations in non-NDErs.
