The International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS) is pleased to announce the release of the new expanded version of Near-Death Experiences: Index to the Periodical Literature through 2005. This updated tool is an invaluable tool for all NDE researchers as well as others interested in an in-depth investigation of NDE’s.

Near-death experience (NDE) researchers were thrilled when the Near-Death Experiences Research Bibliography came out two years ago. The CD-ROM indexed every Anabiosis/Journal of Near-Death Studies (JNDS) article through 2005 by about 140 NDE-related topics. As useful as it was, the new version, Near-Death Experiences: Index to the Periodical Literature through 2005, is a resource for NDE researchers to almost die for. It covers not only JNDS articles but every article published in the first 25 years of near-death studies, a total of over 800 articles: 703 scholarly (mostly refereed journal articles) and 123 non-scholarly (popular magazines, newspapers, etc.).

With this invaluable tool, researchers can find virtually every article addressing a particular NDE-related topic—or combination of topics. Through article abstracts that appear for over 98% of articles that originally included abstracts, researchers are further helped to select just those articles that are relevant to their own areas of inquiry.

Reprints:
Having created a custom list of citations, researchers who do not have access to free reprints—such as higher education faculty who can acquire free reprints through inter-library loan service—can purchase one reprint of each article from the office of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS). In either case, researchers can feel confident they have conducted a very thorough review of the available NDE literature through 2005.
