![]() Cherie Sutherland, PhD Byron Bay, Australia Dr. Sutherland, NDE researcher, educator, speaker, and author, has written five books on NDEs, all translated into other languages. During Segment 1, she will present on one of her topics of expertise within the field of near-death studies: "Children's and Teens' Near-Death Experiences." Cherie Sutherland, PhD, has worked in Australia as a lecturer and educator at both the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney. Her doctorate addressed the after-effects of near-death experiences, and in addition to her books, she has written book chapters and refereed journal articles on NDEs. Her research interests have ranged from purely theoretical and philosophical concerns to qualitative research with a strong transpersonal focus. She has given more than 150 invited lectures in Australia and New Zealand to a wide range of audiences including universities, hospitals, nurse educators, psychiatrists, social workers, and nursing and medical students. In addition she is often invited to speak about NDEs at public venues such as book festivals and hospital-based support groups for bereaved parents. She was the founding co-ordinator and, for 7 years, president of AUSTRALIANDS, IANDS' Australian Local Group for people with personal or professional interest in NDEs. Dr. Sutherland maintains a private counselling practice where she works primarily with individuals, both adults and children. |
