Kircher, MD Mercy Regional Medical Center Durango, CO Dr. Kircher's career as a physician includes four years as a hospice doctor and authorship of a 1995 book, Love is the Link: A Hospice Doctor Shares her Experience of Near-Death and Dying. She will present the Segment 2 opening keynote address: A Thirty Year Perspective: Medicine's Changing Views Towards NDEs. For this conference, Dr. Kircher returns to Houston where she earned her MD at Baylor College of Medicine in 1979 and completed a Family Practice residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center in 1982. Herself a childhood NDEr, Dr. Kircher has been attuned to the medical establishment's response to NDEs since the field of near-death studies began in 1975. Throughout her career, she also has worked some 13 years as a family physician and now directs the Integrative Care department that she helped to develop. Dr. Kircher has given over 100 talks on NDEs to a variety of audiences, including medical schools, the National Hospice Organization, the American Holistic Medical Association, and numerous other professional and public settings. |
