![]() Debbie James, MSN, RN, CCRN, CNS The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Houston, TX Debbie James is a nurse manager and nurse educator with nearly 30 years of experience in the Adult Critical Care arena. Her master's thesis addressed near-death experiences and disclosure, and as a certified bereavement facilitator, she founded a support group for NDErs in San Antonio, TX. Debbie will co-present with Diane Corcoran, PhD, "Practical and Ethical Applications of NDE Research for Palliative, End-of-Life and Other Clinical Care and Educational Settings" during Segment 1 and will co-present and moderate a panel discussion during Segment 2 . With both formal and informal training in various aspects of bereavement and ethics, Ms. James lectures throughout the U.S. on multiple aspects of death and dying, including organ/tissue donation and end-of-life care. She has served multiple terms on the board of directors of the International Association for Near-Death Studies. The recipient of many professional awards and appointments, she was honored most recently by the Houston area district of the Texas Nursing Association for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the nursing profession. |
