Both in his pre- and post-retirement professional lives, Dr. Horacek's research specialties have continued to be near-death and related experiences as they relate to grieving, dying and death. In his closing keynote address for Segment 2 , Dr. Horacek will discuss using near-death, shared deathbed vision, and post-death communication experiences in facing the dying and grieving processes

 

Dr. Horacek has written several papers on near-death and related experiences and has delivered many of these papers at professional conferences. He is a consulting editor of the Journal of Near-Death Studies, a co-founder and coordinator of the Omaha Friends of IANDS, and a past president of the International Association for Near-Death Studies. Since transitioning to Professor Emeritus on July 1, the money that funded his endowed University of Nebraska professorship has become the Dr. Bruce J. Horacek Scholarships for outstanding students in Gerontology.
