Following is a message from Jan Holden, president of IANDS and Professor of Counseling at the University of North Texas (UNT): One of my colleagues at UNT, a licensed counseling psychologist, has repeatedly submitted his attendance at the North Texas Counseling Conference (NTCC) for psychologist CEUs and, even with audit, has always been approved, despite the fact that the conference has never been pre-approved for psychologist CEUs. For this reason, I did not seek separate advanced approval for psychologist CEUs for the IANDS conference. Another psychologist recently checked with the Houston American Psychological Association (APA) and reported to me that, indeed, as long as the APA deems the content of the program to be psychological in nature, they approve the CE credit. Of course, IANDS cannot guarantee that they will deem content about NDEs to be psychological in nature, but if they didn't, I, personally, with the help of any willing psychologist who has attended, will spearhead a vigorous appeal. Virtually everything about NDEs is psychological!! So, although your attendance at this conference is a CEU risk, I believe it is an extremely low one, and I will advocate for anyone in the unlikely event that their psychologist CEUs for attendance at this conference are rejected or questioned. Thus, a psychologist who attends the entire conference should be able to earn 26 psychologist CEUs, with the breakdown for portions of the conference being the same as the chart listing above for National Certified Counselors, |
