A message from the IANDS President regarding the next IANDS conference:

IANDS achieved a new milestone with its recent conference co-sponsored by, and held at, one of the world's largest medical complexes, The University of Texas M. D. Anderston Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Over 440 people attended, including scores of physicians, nurses, and other medical health, mental health, and spiritual health professionals. Accolades have poured in from representative of every profession. Several research and educational initiatives have spun off from the conference, and teams of professionals from a variety of disciplines are pursuing those initiatives. By all accounts, this conference was a tremendous success that enabled IANDS to reach new levels in the achievement of its mission: to build global understanding of near-death and near-death-like experiences through research, education, and support.

In the aftermath of the conference, the IANDS Board's first priority is to complete follow-up activities, such as making conference DVDs and audiorecordings available for purchase at the IANDS website--a resource we hope to have in place by early December. The Board is currently in intense deliberations about overall strategic planning for IANDS, including the nature and timing of future educational programming such as conferences. Board members are considering several options, and no decisions have been made. They expect to complete deliberations at their in-person meeting in January and to post their decision at this webpage by the end of January. Please make a note to check back at that time for the most accurate and current information.

The IANDS Board wants, once again, to thank everyone who supported the recent conference through attendance, donation, and/or volunteer work. The conference marks a historic achievement in the field of near-death studies.

Near-Death Experiences: 30 Years of Research

Implications for health care professionals
and others interested in this phenomenon

An unprecedented event, this conference unites The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS), the leading research organization dedicated to the study of near-death experiences (NDEs). The conference will review 30 years of research into NDEs, spanning the field of near-death studies that began in 1975 with the book Life after Life by Raymond Moody, MD, PhD.

First 2-Day Segment, October 25-26

Second 2-Day Segment, October 27-28

Registration for each two-day segment will be separate, though interested participants are encouraged to attend all four days. Continuing education units will be available for a wide range of health-care professionals. Check back often as more details are posted.

We hope you can join us at this extraordinary event.
