A message from the IANDS President regarding the next IANDS conference:
IANDS achieved a new milestone with its recent conference co-sponsored by, and held at, one of the world's largest medical complexes, The University of Texas M. D. Anderston Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Over 440 people attended, including scores of physicians, nurses, and other medical health, mental health, and spiritual health professionals. Accolades have poured in from representative of every profession. Several research and educational initiatives have spun off from the conference, and teams of professionals from a variety of disciplines are pursuing those initiatives. By all accounts, this conference was a tremendous success that enabled IANDS to reach new levels in the achievement of its mission: to build global understanding of near-death and near-death-like experiences through research, education, and support. In the aftermath of the conference, the IANDS Board's first priority is to complete follow-up activities, such as making conference DVDs and audiorecordings available for purchase at the IANDS website--a resource we hope to have in place by early December. The Board is currently in intense deliberations about overall strategic planning for IANDS, including the nature and timing of future educational programming such as conferences. Board members are considering several options, and no decisions have been made. They expect to complete deliberations at their in-person meeting in January and to post their decision at this webpage by the end of January. Please make a note to check back at that time for the most accurate and current information. The IANDS Board wants, once again, to thank everyone who supported the recent conference through attendance, donation, and/or volunteer work. The conference marks a historic achievement in the field of near-death studies. - Jan Holden, EdD, IANDS President --- 2006 North American Conference
